A tight budget can buy a drone that streams video to your phone. It does not automatically buy the goggles, radio and spare batteries for immersive FPV.
The quick answer
If “FPV” means seeing the camera view on your phone, a small Wi-Fi camera drone may fit a $100 shopping limit, but verify the current bundle and seller. If it means flying through goggles with a dedicated radio, budget for the whole compatible system, not just an aircraft advertised for under $100. We did not verify a complete, currently available goggles kit that meets that cap, so this guide does not name a “best” kit at that price.

Three meanings of “FPV drone under $100”
First-person view describes how you see the camera feed; it does not tell you which screen, goggles or controller is included. Separate these three listings before comparing prices:
- Phone-view Wi-Fi mini drone: The camera feeds a smartphone app. This can be a low-cost way to explore camera perspective, but a phone screen is not the same as goggles and a dedicated low-latency FPV setup.
- Complete goggles kit: The box should include a compatible aircraft, goggles, radio, flight batteries and charger. Confirm each item in the exact variant, not merely the product-family photos.
- Drone-only FPV aircraft: A low aircraft price may exclude goggles, radio, batteries and charger. The final spend can be far above the number in the listing headline.
A sub-$100 aircraft is not automatically a sub-$100 ready-to-fly FPV system. Shipping, extra batteries and replacement propellers also matter, but those are not substitutes for the core equipment.
Price the complete system, not only the aircraft
- Video path: Is it a phone app, analog goggles or a particular digital system? Goggles and drone must use compatible video technology.
- Control path: Does the kit include a radio? A drone-only listing may require a specific receiver protocol, radio and binding procedure.
- Power: Confirm the number of batteries, charging cable or charger, connector and safe charging instructions.
- Spare parts: Check propeller size, guards and whether replacements can be sourced for the exact model.
- Actual package: Read the selected variant and seller listing, not just the headline, hero photo or a review of a different bundle.
Our controller guide explains the radio side; the goggles guide covers why video systems cannot be assumed to work together.
Two product examples that show the difference
Holy Stone HS210P: phone-view FPV
Holy Stone describes the HS210P as a 33 g mini drone with a 1080p camera and Wi-Fi FPV live view through a smartphone. Its listed three-battery bundle has up to 15 minutes of total flight time. It is a useful example of phone-view FPV; the manufacturer does not present it as an included-goggles kit, and it does not have GPS. Treat the stated endurance as a manufacturer figure, not our measured result.
The HS210P also appears in our under-$100 drone guide. Check its current price, package and seller before purchasing; inclusion in that guide is not a live-price guarantee.
BETAFPV Cetus Lite: what a complete kit contains
The manufacturer’s Cetus Lite FPV kit is a useful checklist example: its FPV variant includes a drone, VR02 goggles, LiteRadio 1 radio, two batteries and charging gear. BETAFPV quotes 4–5 minutes per battery. This is not our under-$100 or in-stock recommendation: the manufacturer listing we checked did not offer an available complete FPV variant within that limit. The point is to see what “complete” should mean before comparing a cheaper drone-only listing.
Neither example has been flight-tested by DronesInsite for this article. Product specifications and package contents come from the manufacturers and can change by variant or region.
Which path makes sense on a $100 ceiling?
- You want a simple camera view on a phone: Compare current phone-view mini drones and confirm app support, included batteries, replacement parts and return terms. Start with our existing under-$100 guide.
- You want the immersive goggles experience: Compare complete, compatible starter kits, even if that means saving beyond the initial cap. Do not buy a drone-only aircraft assuming any goggles or radio will work.
- You already own goggles and a radio: A cheaper aircraft could fit your incremental budget, but verify the exact video system, receiver protocol, battery connector and charger first.
Skip listings that do not specify exactly what is in the box. Do not treat an app-view toy, a racing quadcopter and a complete FPV kit as interchangeable merely because each uses the term “FPV.”
U.S. flight rules still apply
For outdoor recreational flying in the United States, start with the FAA’s recreational-flyer rules, including TRUST, airspace authorization where required and visual line of sight. When a pilot uses goggles, arrange the required visual-observer arrangement rather than assuming the video feed alone meets the visual-line-of-sight rule. Check the current FAA guidance and local site rules before flying. Tiny size does not remove every operating obligation.
For first practice, a guarded mini drone in a suitable indoor space can reduce wind and airspace complexity, but guards do not make propellers harmless. Keep clear of people, pets, fragile objects and loose fabric.
How this guide was prepared
Updated September 30, 2026. We compared Holy Stone’s HS210P specifications, BETAFPV’s kit contents and FAA recreational guidance. We also checked our existing budget-drone, goggles and controller guides to keep this page focused on the FPV package decision. This is document-based buying guidance, not a hands-on review. We omit live prices and stock claims because they change and a complete kit within the cap was not verified.
