What the original DJI Digital FPV System includes
The 2019 ecosystem combined DJI FPV Goggles, an Air Unit, an FPV camera and an optional dedicated remote controller. The air unit handled the digital video link and onboard recording; the goggles displayed and recorded the feed. It was designed as a complete system rather than a universal receiver.
Performance and real-world limits
DJI rated the link for 720p/120fps live view, latency as low as 28 ms and up to 4 km FCC range in ideal open conditions. The Air Unit could record 1080p/60fps or 720p/120fps. Actual latency and range depend on channel conditions, antennas, installation, region and heat management.
Compatibility in 2026
Do not assume the original Air Unit, Vista, O3 or O4 components are interchangeable. Confirm the exact goggles model, air unit, camera, remote controller and firmware combination from DJI support material before buying. Regional transmission rules and channel counts also differ.
